Molecular diseases testing at the point of need

Curetis combines proven and innovative technologies to a unique molecular diagnostic system that is able to deliver reliable and clinically relevant answers at the point of care - without the need for skilled personnel and in time for an informed therapy decision. The company’s propriety products are based on a versatile hardware platform – the Unyvero™ System - handling disease specific cartridges for the analysis of various disease marker panels. The first application of the Curetis technology is diagnosing infections.

Curetis has translated the complex molecular diagnostic work flow into an easy to use format by integrating all necessary pre-analytical and analytical steps into one solution optimized for footprint, cost and reliability. At the heart of the solution is the unique disposable Unyvero™ cartridge providing the reagents necessary to complete the analysis from 'sample to answer'. This includes

  • conditioning of the sample / cell lysing procedures,
  • purifying and amplifying DNA and

  • detecting the DNA.

Curetis unique cartridge and platform design is compatible with a broad range of sample types.

Curetis´ unmatched sample preparation technology

Preparing many clinically relevant samples

Curetis' sample lysis technology works with a comprehensive range of native samples.

Successful diagnosis of various diseases requires the detection of the full variety of associated analytes from different sample types - even in complex or highly viscous samples or specimens with poor quality.

The Curetis sample preparation technology (patent pending) uses a combination of different chemicals, a novel mechanical actuation and thermal lysis to obtain optimum sample homogenization and lysis performance. Because of its universality, the Curetis sampling technology can use a single protocol for the preparation for many sample types.

This means consistent work flow and an almost completely automated sample analysis, thereby reducing potential handling errors.

Unyvero™ Cartridge - unique technology

Reliable for multiplexed testing at all levels

Multiple sample analysis steps - isolation, amplification and detection of DNA - are integrated and incorporated in the unique Unyvero™ disposable cartridge and provide high quality results.

One of Curetis' core competences is the design of reliable bio-assays in self-contained cartridges to enable sensitive multiplexed testing. The required multiplex grade is achieved by combining the unmatched sample preparation and PCR technology with a proprietary detection array. The versatile nature of the approach makes it easy to design dedicated cartridges for a broad range of diseases without having to modify the instrumentation.

Curetis has optimized the various steps for reliability and speed. For example, the array has hybridization times of only a few minutes. As a result, the Curetis cartridge technology detects up to a hundred analytes in a few hours.

A universal platform technology

Simplified uniform work flow enabling testing at the point of need

To meet user needs, Curetis delivers simplified molecular testing based on its universal analysis platform eliminating operator-induced variations and ensuring high-quality results.

All analytical steps for sample preparation, DNA purification, amplification and specific detection are supported by the universal platform. The user’s time is reduced by pre-loaded reagents in each disease-specific cartridge. Once the cartridge is loaded into the analyzer, all sample processing happens automatically without any further operator interaction.
